Turning off 'Automatically detect settings' for LAN settings in Internet Properties (Connections) might fix this. I'm hoping to have this addressed before too long in our code.

From somebody that is absolutely non tech savvy, Computers really are my bane, so please bare with me, reading from the blog I am under the impression that I would be able to download/use the test server(s) from the one launcher alongside my Tranquillity instance. Is this correct ?
I have never before, despite wanting too, attempted to download the test server features, the process genuinely confuses me, to be able to at last use such features would be a tremendous boon for the likes of myself. Yes, you understood this correctly. Install this and go crazy on the test servers :)

Downloading singularity is good default though :) Multiplicity and Chaos aren't downloaded by default, only if you go to the server list (which may not be available in the final version).
Usually there is very little extra downloaded for Duality and we're hoping to get more traffic by having it easily accessible.

I agree that settings storage in EVE is a bit of a mess at the moment, but fixing that is beyond the scope of the new launcher. We do plan to add tools to the launcher to manage settings, however, and once my work on the launcher is done I hope to have some time to improve settings management overall.

I like to run missions and such while in fleet.... and since I keep getting constant disconnects I find it not so enjoyable to play with the sense of a disconnect coming at the time when I have room aggro and possibilities of losing ships from fleet and then having to re fleet and fight rats..... almost feel like finding another game to spend my 90.00 a month subscription fees.
I sure hope this problem is fixed... as I never used to have any problems with the same setup but at higher detail settings, sucks playing at low res cause of socket disconnections and signal lost problems.
great idea ccp...... +1 for the effort to fix this problem I'm afraid a new launcher will not be able to correct disconnection problems in the game - the launcher only manages the patching and launching of the game.
That said, I am planning to add diagnostics to help with discovering problems related to patching and connecting to TQ but those features are not in yet. Disconnection problems are usually caused by factors out of our control, though, so the best we can do is help diagnose those issues.

Tyranis Marcus wrote:Just downloaded the new launcher tonight. Pretty sweet work, guys!
How about a feature to copy settings, such as copying setting 1 into setting 2, etc. Then, say I wanted two setups that were exactly the same but one set up to look good and the other set up for high performance in fleet battles, I could just make one setup, copy it over, and change the relevant things on the Display and Graphics tab. My keybinds, UI, and everything else would still be intact.
It'd be great for multiboxing, too.
Can't wait to see the Latest News and Scope Video links on there! I'm sure that's an understandably low priority at the moment, though, but that's ok. This thing is worth the wait! Love it so far! Those things are all in the works.

I see you are living on the edge...
Please note that the dev version may be unstable, and may even break the auto update of the launcher itself. It is straight from the CI build server, with no human checking anything.
That said, I'm happy to see that anybody is curious about what is coming and welcome feedback on that. Just keep in mind that there may half-baked features in there that we're just trying out - things may (and will) change before we decide to properly deploy a version.

Mintoko wrote: Using Launcher 971279:
The launcher apparently does require spaces in the path to be replaced with an underscore ( _ ). Otherwise, the launcher won't see it and will create a new profile.
The settings migrator copies a profile to g_ccp_eve online_sharedcache_tq_87.237.38.200
On login, the launcher creates g_ccp_eve_online_sharedcache_tq_87.237.38.200
This holds true for both going straight from the migration to login and when restarting the launcher between migration and login.
On another note, how long is it taking people to launch the launcher? Mine was taking close to 2 minutes before I could login. The latest dev version seems to be a little faster, but still too long.
Good catch, not all parts of the name are properly sanitized. I'll fix that tomorrow.
Try turning of Automatically detect settings (Internet properties, Connections, LAN settings) for proxy settings - that can cause the slowdown. I hope to have a proper fix for this before going out of beta.

As admin there were no errors apart from a http instead of https somewhere (over my head). Thanks for help! Right - verifying proper file permissions is on my todo list.
You were probably running the old launcher and/or the EVE client(s) as administrator at some point - any files created by those programs would then be owned by the administrator.

Try running as administrator - this may be due to a permissions issue.

I turns out it was because of the new EVE laucher. I guess it's checking the server's status. Could we have an option to disable this ? That's enough to cause a lag spike? Surely there isn't enough network activity for this so maybe there's high cpu load? If so that should be fixed to be less intensive, not removed. The ressource monitor clearly shows spikes caused by evelauncher.exe (http://i.imgur.com/aUAchQN.png orange is the launcher). Some games like dota and LoL are very sensitive to small network activities. I'm investigating this. Seems like there is an issue with the underlying network library I'm using when running on WiFi. I expect to have a fix shortly.

This is only affecting 1 account - My other accounts login with no problems.
Oh and the issues with my previous post - Where are the clients settings - I'd like an answer to. It may actually be related to this isuue. The generic Eve folder doesn't help much when your running multiple clients. Don't know how the Exe file managed it, but it just did, now with a launcher that is supposed to contain this information, it isn't there.

The initial goal with settings profiles in the new launcher was exactly to give you the same functionality as different junctions (or full installs). That doesn't mean we'll stop there, but sometimes things are best done in baby steps.
Going beyond that requires changing the client code itself - as soon as the launcher is stable and we can have everybody migrating over to the new launcher, we'll shift our focus to improving settings overall.

Rowells wrote:any progress on a mac version? I am making progress, yes, but there are still a few issues to sort out. The biggest thing is launching multiple clients, or rather ensuring they don't crash when one of them is closed.
The Windows version seems stable enough for now so I am focused on the Mac version until it catches up.

Kal'Han wrote: and with this launcher there is a bug : you can bring back windows on top (whatever the mode) by double clicking on the account in the launcher. nice? well try minimize client and double clic, strange things happens when I do that. event if you don't have the random white windows poping out, you client is reset to default size "_" still waiting for a dev acknowledgment of the bug
I'll investigate this.
Kal'Han wrote: but I can't use that unless devs add a way to identify the client / Account at run level, I asked about it here, no answer (you can identify a windows when a char is selected, but unless launcher comes with query api, the only way to work is with command line, I asked to add "accounf" in the command line, that has no impact and would help us to tinker a bit)
We are planning to allow character selection in the launcher at some point so there will eventually be an extra cmd line argument to the client.

This is a known issue, will be fixed soon. For now, simply resize the window until the button becomes available.

BGed wrote:Not sure about other people but this new launcher does little to nothing for me. In order to launch multiple accounts on different monitors I still need to use isboxer. I do not know if multiple screens in full window mode is in the scope of this project but I have seen other people mention it and after 24 pages of reading I have not seen a single dev acknowledge this. I can only assume that silence means it is not a concern or potential issue for further development. With the current state of the beta launcher I have no desire to use it or have it implemented in the future.
If ccp was truly interested in satisfying multiple account users they would address the issue of multiple screens would be addressed. Otherwise whats the point? Sounds like a lot of work for no actual gain. Plus if you are going to have a web gui with images in the background you might want to make them cache or make them smaller in size so it does not take as long to download and render every time you open the launcher. As I mentioned in https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6126618#post6126618 we are planning to do more with settings, once the launcher is done.

Luscius Uta wrote:This has probably been answered already, but since I don't have the attention span to read the whole thread, can we still use dx9 with the new launcher? Also, since data is shared between the servers, can I delete anything from the folders where I have Sisi and Duality installed? There is no setting yet for forcing DX9, will be added soon.
As for the second question - there is no need for separate installs anymore to access Sisi and Duality so you ought to be able to delete them, yes.

otherwise this launcher is miles ahead of the old ones in features, especially the multi account launch feature. The web team is working on this.

Don't know if these were mentioned already. Thanks, I'll add these to my list. Note that you can double click on the (invisible) title bar to maximize.

I like to leave the launcher up in case I get dced, but I can't. If its a matter of the graphics maybe allow us to tone them down.
Same here. With my rig it is a graphics card issue. I can run 4 clients parallel at 3440*1440 stable, so it looks like the launcher causing a very high workload on the GPU for some reasons. It is unclear to me if you are talking about the new launcher or the old one. Are you saying the new launcher is causing the high workload?

I just got a pop up window on my launcher with some fake "site visiting" crap. Whats up with this?? If this is something that you guys are going to implement then DONT!
I hope this was i one time only thing and that it wont pop up again
Could you be more specific? What did the pop-up say, exactly? What did it look like?

Alt-tabbing through the Launcher to browser or w/e gets semi-aggravating. Thanks CCP, good work. We're planning on deploying an update next week, that will include a minimize-to-tray option.

Jack Tronic wrote:I am frequently getting times where the launcher complains it cannot copy files and thus launch. Only escalating the launcher process to Administrator fixes it. Only happens some of the times, other times it'll work just fine. This is probably due to permission issues on the shared cache folder. I'm hoping to have a fix for this that will be deployed in a day or two.

Amatta Lols wrote:When I hit the "Launch Account" button too early after starting up the launcher, it gives an error about incompatible builds, but when the launcher finishes its version check and says "Ready" at the bottom, the "Launch Account" button is no longer visible.
To get around this, I have to close and reopen the launcher and just wait until it says ready. It would be really nice if the Launch button would re-appear after an error. This should be fixed in our dev version that I'm hoping to deploy in a day or two.
